Mircona parting off grooving toolThe Mircona range
Mircona are manufacturers of the world’s longest established range of parting-off and grooving toolholders with replaceable carbide inserts. The Mircona range is demonstrably the worlds strongest and most comprehensive tooling system with over 2,500 toolholders and more than 3,000 replaceable carbide inserts.

The toolholders are solidly built being machined out of solid bar and the small insert design allows the maximum amount of supporting steel to be deployed to ensure stability for the insert and its cutting edge.

This simple sole or single design concept of the Mircona parting–off and grooving tooling has enabled its development for every aspect of grooving tooling such as internal, external, axial / annular, circlip and “O”- ring and relief grooving.

Mircona 158s face grooving toolMircona designs have an inherent strength making them the standard grooving tooling in difficult to machine, work hardening alloys such as those used by the aerospace industry. These high temperature resistant alloys were originally developed to counter the problems associated within the “hot end” of the latest jet turbine engines. These space-age materials reduce the phenomenon of “creep” or “grain growth” caused by a combination of high temperature and high centrifugal forces when the engine “spools-up”. However these high technology alloys are particularly difficult to machine, especially for grooving tooling.
