Hinckley & Rugby does not operate a call centre and endeavours to ensure every telephone call is answered personally by a member of staff within five rings. No appointments are necessary to open an account at any of the 11 branches and 6 agencies across Leicestershire and Warwickshire.

It has traditional building society values and currently lends mortgages to nearly 10,000 borrowers in England and Wales.

Community and charity work
Hinckley & Rugby operates a Hospice Affinity Savings Account that pays interest to the investor and also donates 1% of the average balances held in the account during the previous year to three local hospices.
The Society donates 25p for every vote cast at the AGM to charity. For the 2011 AGM the chosen charity is again Rainbows Children’s Hospice, which received a donation of £1,350 following the 2010 AGM.
All staff at Hinckley & Rugby are encouraged to become involved in many areas of community work through the Society’s Community First scheme, allowing them to take up to three days’ paid leave per year to work in their chosen field.
In addition to the Community First project staff also participate in national charity events such as Children In Need.
