LED lighting - the benefits
Savage Marine are seeing more new and existing change over to LED lighting. The key benefits of LED are:
Long life - LEDs last up to 50,000 hours compared to 1000 for typical incandescent bulbs and 1,500 for halogen.
Reliable - LEDs are solid-state devices, with no moving parts, no glass and no filaments to break.
Energy efficient - LEDs use up to 90% less energy. Environmentally friendly - LEDs contain no mercury. And since they last longer, there is less of an environmental imapct.
Increased safety - LEDS turn on faster, providing quicker response; the downside to LEDS had previously been the been brightness and colour temperature. With the new 10w LED, however, the Lumen output is 550 compared to 320 for a standard 20w halogen. Colour temperature remains the same as a 20w halogen.
